Biomass Controls PBC

Biomass Controls PBC, a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation, develops and manufactures decentralized biochar systems for treating non-woody, high-moisture biogenic materials, including manures, institutional food waste, and textiles. Our flagship technology, the Biogenic Refinery, is a patented thermochemical treatment system that converts challenging organic feedstocks into engineered biochar, thermal energy, and electricity. We hold 21 patents covering system design, software, and control technologies. We offer pre-purchase services such as feedstock-to-biochar testing to generate operational specifications, carbon content and durability data, and tailored engineered biochar products that can be integrated into partner and client applications. Biomass Controls actively participates in circular economy, extended producer responsibility, and sustainable waste management initiatives, and we seek partners looking to valorize complex organic waste streams and scale climate-positive solutions.

Reliability & Downtime

The systems have a serviceable life of 20 years and an engineered Mean Time Between Repair (MTTR) of 30 minutes.

Maintenance & Servicing

Maintenance is required to check system sensors and to clean the heat exchangers. Servicing is recommended every 500 hours of operation. Spare parts are provided under our system lease.

Pressure Consistency

Our system is open and not pressurized.

Software Integration

The system software is integrated into Amazon Web Services for the near real time collection of operational data. Two mobile applications are available on the Apple Store and on Google Play to remotely operate and monitor the system.
